The gambling capital of the country, Nevada has made a strong name for itself in the tourism industry, which has lent itself to some of the best culinary places in the country. From the restaurants in Northern Nevada around Lake Tahoe to the five-star dining in Las Vegas, Nevada has attracted many big named chefs and created a good place for up and comers to get their start.
After graduating from culinary school, the state has a multitude of opportunities available at some of the best restaurants in the country to gain experience. Average salary for an executive chef is approximately $50,000, but that number rises at restaurants in some of the more prominent tourist areas.
With the numerous amounts of famous restaurants opened and managed by well-known chefs, there are almost too many to list. Most well-known names are Gordon Ramsay and Wolfgang Puck, both of whom own multiple kitchens in Las Vegas alone. Throughout the year, due to the high influx of conferences and tourists, there are festivals and competitions held almost monthly in the increasingly popular field of culinary arts.
In Las Vegas, two of the top culinary schools in the nation provide top-notch education to anyone who aims to thrive in the world of culinary arts. The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes of Las Vegas and Le Cordon Bleu both offer some of the best culinary programs. Outside of Las Vegas, students can attend community colleges, which have excellent hospitality programs to learn more about the art of food.
Take that first step toward getting a culinary education and moving toward a rewarding career.
