Culinary Entrepreneurship classes were created for culinary students who want to eventually own their own restaurant or other food service related businesses. With Entrepreneurial Culinary classes, a career as a restaurant manager, food service manager, personal chef career, catering business owner, chef career or head cook are all possible. Culinary students will participate in regular program classes and then build upon the basic culinary foundation and continue their education with entrepreneurial specific classes.

As a culinary entrepreneur you will need to be able to multi-task and think critically. Decisions will need to be made quickly and you need to be able to think on your feet. Resourcefulness and creativity are also good traits. You will oversee food quality and deal with customer services and make staffing decisions.

Career Specific Classes:

In a Culinary Entrepreneurship program, you will learn the skills needed to open and run your own food service business. Once you have completed the program you may be ready to open your own business, but you will definitely have the skills needed to manage a food service business. You will learn the food service industry from the inside out. As a culinary entrepreneurship student, you will take communications, leadership, technology, customer relations and other degree specific classes. Some culinary entrepreneurship course specific classes are:

• Purchasing and Cost Control
• Food Production
• Health and Regulations
• Financing the Entrepreneurial Venture
• Catering/banquet management

As part of your program you will have the opportunity to develop business plans and to learn skills needed to facilitate the tasks of restaurant management. You will learn to market yourself to attract clientele. You will become competent and confident with the skills needed to manage your own kitchen. Courses will also focus on financial management aspects and how to understand market segments and demands that can affect a restaurant’s overall profits. You will learn how to use analytical techniques to make informed business decision.
